Özcan Tahincioğlu, Chairman of the Board, Tahincioğlu Holding

A prominent figure in the Turkish business community,

Özcan Tahincioğlu

is the Chairman of the Board of Tahincioglu Holding, a family owned conglomerate active in real estate development, agriculture, energy, manufacturing and service industries. He has held, and currently holds, chief positions on various boards related to entrepreneurship, activism, real estate and philanthropy.

Mr. Tahincioğlu

was born in Istanbul in 1969. He completed his secondary education at Robert College, where he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in finance and economics at Babson College in the U.S.

Mr. Tahincioğlu

began his career at Kent Gıda Maddeleri Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ. (Currently a Kraft subsidiary). He assumed the duties of Assistant Finance Manager in 1994, and after various positions within different departments, in 1999 he took on the position of Deputy Managing Director, Financial and Commercial Affairs. When Cadbury Schweppes Overseas Ltd. acquired the majority stake in Kent Gıda in 2002,

was promoted to the position of Board Member and Acting Managing Director. He served as chairman between 2004 and 2013.

Mr. Tahincioğlu

became the Chairman of Tahincioglu Holding, the group’s parent company in 2002, and during his term, extended the holding’s share in the real estate development and construction industry which dates back to 1965. Following the sale of Kent Gıda, Tahincioğlu Gayrimenkul İnşaat Turizm AŞ (Tahincioglu Real Estate - the development company of the group) and Nida İnşaat ve Turizm AŞ (the general contracting company of the group) became the flagship companies of the holding.

also maintained membership in the Board of Directors of Ünlü & Co. – a provider of investment banking services — and served as a shareholder between 2005 and 2007. Even after retiring from partnership,

continued to hold the position of Investment Committee member with the venture capital fund, SU Private Equity (a part of Ünlü Alternative Assets).

also gained acclaim in the Turkish business world for his entrepreneurial activities. He is a Founding Board Member of Endeavor Turkey, where he also served as the Chairman for two consecutive terms during the period between 2009-2013. Endeavor Turkey is part of an international non-profit network supporting high impact entrepreneurs and championing the growth of healthy entrepreneurship ecosystems in emerging markets as a critical tool for economic development. pioneered four major programs that catalyzed a nationwide agenda to promote entrepreneurship in Turkey. These programs include: recruiting a group of 150 C-level opinion leaders from the business community to serve as a diversified and dedicated mentor network for promising entrepreneurs; launching the first banking sector credit program for start-ups and early stage growth companies in cooperation with Akbank; pioneering an angel investor awareness building, lobbying and education program reaching over 250 qualified potential investors, and; spearheading Global Entrepreneurship Week in Turkey engaging over 200 partner organizations and reaching over 50,000 high school and university students annually.

Mr. Tahincioglu

continues to serve as an active Endeavor Board Member.

His commitment to entrepreneurship also continues as being an active investor in information technology funds.

Mr. Tahincioğlu

took positions as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the 212 Capital Partners, as well as Founding Chairman of the Revo Capital Fund I BV, one of Turkey's first and most prominent early stage venture capital funds, which he started with Cenk Bayrakdar. He still holds these positions today.

Mr. Tahincioğlu

has actively volunteered his services in various non-governmental organizations. He served as member of the Board of Directors of the Young Businessmen Association (GYİAD) between 1996 and 1998, and member of the High Advisory Board of Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) between 2007 and 2012. He has served as member of Higher Council of Young Entrepreneurs (GGK) within the framework of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) since 2009.

He has also maintained his membership in the Board Directors of the Association of Real Estate Investment Companies (GYODER), in which he took an active role since 2012.

Mr. Tahincioğlu

also maintained his Executive Board membership of the Turkish-British Business Council (TİİK), operating under the auspices of Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), for two terms.

Since 2013, Tahincioğlu has also served as member of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Council of Shopping Centers (AYD) and member of the Board of Directors of the Mardin Foundation for Education and Solidarity (MAREV). In addition,

Some of these include the Turkish Industry and Businessmen Association (TUSİAD), the Turkish-American Business Association (TABA), the International Investors Association (YASED), and the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
